I´m at work helping the tourists finding this and that, where to sleep, what to see plus answering lots of weird questions such as: when pregnant women live in the countryside, how do they get fast enough to the hospital? and so on... but that´s just fun and makes the job more fun.
Since I came home it has been very relaxing, just working and spending time with my family (my brother and his family came from Denmark for 3 weeks) and it´s been great. I been a very good girl, not partying a lot like last winter except for few times and then boy o boy but they were all for very good reasons such as inviting my friends to my village to camp, drink, play guitar and sing all night which was great!! We also had with us a group of people from Scandinavia, they were in a program called Nordjob (they also came last year) and they were fun, but my favorite was a Finnish guy who only knew one sentence in Icelandic: How much do you want for this wool sweater? WHY!!
I had a "tiny bit" to drink on the Friday night but I had to work on the Sunday morning so I went to bed early on the Saturday night (04:00) but I know someone didn´t go to bed until 08:30. So I won the Miss Freshness award that Sunday:)
Other news, o yes the heat wave has reached Iceland. Up to 15-16 degrees, OI!! This summer has sucked in the weather department to say the least. That´s why I can´t wait to go to Denmark and Sweden in 2 weeks. I going to spend one night in Malmö on the way home and I can´t wait to see my girls (too bad Sara and Charlie can´t be there). I´m so going to Möllan for a beer and I HAVE TO take that photo which I was going to, the window display at the hairdresser on the way from the Trianglen to Möllan, me and Freyja are still talking about it!
I still haven´t found an apartment, I had one but I let it go since the woman who was going to rent it to me kept changing her story and so I decided to back out. So the search continues (I have found the perfect apartment to buy but it´s always the question; should I or shouldn´t I??) They say that they prize is going down but it´s going so slow, I´m not sure I can wait that long. Maybe I should just go abroad again, I´ve started to think about it again, I can´t help it I´m addicted. I know I will go to take my masters degree but how soon I don´t know. I´m a bit confused these days. My mother asked me the other day why I had been so quite for the last weeks, I guess because when you have to decide the next couple of years, maybe many if I buy an apartment you don´t have the time to talk, all the time goes into thinking!! I don´t know.
O well I have to go and chat with the tourists and then go home and pack cause I´m going to Reykjavík tonight for a meeting with Guðrún from the Human Rights Watch and of course to see my wonderful friends:)
Themesong for the day : the Amelie movies soundtrack, so appropriate somehow
Hope you´re all well, miss you all a lot

This is what is happening in Skagafjörður (my area) next week. Landsmót hestamanna (hmm National tournament for horses something somethin!!) We are expecting about 12.-14.000 people for the week, which is a lot in Iceland! I´ll be working the whole time so I will not have any time to see any horses, not that I´m very interested but it´s kind of a festival and bands playing and people in tents drinking and having fun, and you know Thora likes to have fun haha.
But I´m going to have a birthday party on friday so I not THAT sad. The scary birthday is coming up on Tuesday the 27.June and then I´ll be 25!!!!! Men o men. Me and my mum are going to have a very small but very cool birthday party together since she is 50 years old this year, so it´s going to be happy 75!
Not much is happening otherwise just working and helping my parents fixing their house before my brother and his family come from Danmark TODAY, I can´t wait. I haven´t seen my younger niece since she was born 3 months ago and my parents have never seen her in person, only through web camera on msn. So everyone is very excited.
O yes, I contacted a guy at the Red Cross in Iceland who is in charge of refugees in Iceland and asked him if they were interested in me writing my C-essay (BA) for them and compare the system of Iceland and maybe Sweden in how the procedure is in both countries when refugees seek ashylum. I got an answer few days later and he want´s to have a meeting with me and a woman from the Human Rights Watch (Mannréttindastofa) in Iceland next week. I can´t go then but we are going to have a meeting in July and I´m very excited:) since then I will be able to use some of the knowledge from last winter in Malmö.
Well take care and I´ll see some of you in little more then a month;)

Remember my photo album: public.fotki.com/thorhgi (more pictures coming)

I talked to Gabi last night and she thought I was crazy going for a walk so late in the evening because it´s so dark at night. Well, the picture here shows how Icelandic night looks like at night in the summer. This one is taken a Midsummers night. It´s not until the beginning of August when it starts to get a little bit dark;)
I just came home from Reykjavík and the music festival Reykjavík Tropik which was soo great. So many cool Icelandic bands and of course Supergrass and the other foreign bands. But the best one and the nicest surprize was an American band called ESG. It´s 60 years old black woman from the Bronx and her daughters I think. Someone told me that she bought them instruments when they were young to keep them of the streets. The music is a bit special but the perfect party music, heavy beats, drums where the main thing ( I don´t think they had a guitar) and her voice is SOOO cool. So check it out, I think the most famous songs are Moody and Dance. If u like them you like all of them, a bit similar. The concert was soo cool to and everybody was going crazy ( I think the guys were all watching one of the daughters, a larger woman NOT afraid to shake her boobs). So as you know I like music a lot and LOVE concerts so this weekend was perfect and spent with lots of friends partying and chilling between. An Icelandic weekend as some of you called it when Smári and Freyja came to visit me:)
But I´ve been thinking, I´m a greatful grapefruit (Björk) for MSN and Skype because without it I would have lost contact with a lot of you guys. And I´m happy you still remember my phone number, for example I got a funny phone call last night from Sarah, Sara, Gabi and Candice who were drunk at the beach because it was Candice´s last night before she goes to South-Africa, hope you had a safe trip:)
But the great news is that I´m coming to Denmark 1.August to visit my brother and his family and on the 8.August I´m coming over since my flight is late in the evening. I hope some of you, at least you Swedish people will be there (Charlotte told me she will still be in Karlstad but I hope the rest is there).
But this is good for now, hope you are doing good, take care and party hard

GOod

Hahahahaaha I had to show you the pictures. To the left: Too bad it was only me and Candice who got to see it live and note that this is taken at 5 or 6 in the afternoon. Jovel is trying to teach Rik a dance to some Swedish euro pop song and the went, left, right, left, left, right, right. Well since both of them were WAY to drunk it took at least two times until they got it; Johan and Natalie have fun in my goodbye party and at the top is my last day in Malmö, just a perfect day in great company:) More pics later

I MOST CERTAINLY LIVE IN ICELAND!!!

Yes this happened this morning, it´s not me but I was late to work so I walked insted of doing this for 15 minutes to drive to the next street (I always walk but cause I´m sick I was going to take the car, not such a good idea). This is not likely to happen in this time of year but I guess the globe has gone crazy!
I have to go and see the doctor tomorrow because of a really bad cough and my mum and my boss are sure it´s serious but I don´t know, hate going to doctors.
I had a good weekend in Reykjavik, went out both friday and saturday with friends which was nice but going shopping for furniture with the parents the mornings after, not so nice. But now I´m back at work so everything is a usual, can´t wait to go back to Reykjvik 2-5. of June when the Reykjavik Tropic festival is (check out www.reykjaviktropik.com ) it´s in English.
Well hope you guys are doing good, remember to party hard before u go home:)
The song for today is : stop crying your heart out by Oasis, as some of u know they are one of my favourites:)
